Various methods can be used for measuring the heat in chillies including the Scoville scale, which ranges from grade 0 (sweet pepper) to 300, 000 (habanero), or a simple 1โ€“10 used by many supermarkets (and used opposite). None are completely accurate, as chillies vary quite considerably, even those on the same bush.
