Also known as Bavarian cream, this classic creamy dessert is made from rich vanilla-flavoured custard, which is lightened with whipped cream to produce a creamy and velvety-smooth dessert. Vanilla, chocolate, orange, coffee and fruit purées are popular flavours and these are added to the egg-custard base before it is poured into a decorative mould to set.
