DID YOU EVER DIG tiny new potatoes with skins so delicate you could almost rub them off? And hurry from the garden with peas that had pods so crisp they squeaked when clutched in your hand? If so, you know how marvelous garden-fresh vegetables can taste.
Not all country families have gardens in these busy times, but usually enough people in a neighborhood grow more vegetables than they can use, to make sharing possible. The trend, though, is to greater involvement with the soil, planting, weeding and watching vegetables partly for the pleasure it provides. And for good eating!
