Iman and Mohamad Yahya, both from Aleppo, Syria, came to Istanbul with their two children. From a young age, Mohamad Yahya was in the kitchen with his mother, watching, tasting, and learning how to cook. She always encouraged him to experiment and try new recipes — he particularly likes recreating restaurant dishes at home, and is known for his spiced chicken. These qualities in turn were passed along to Iman, who calls Mohamad Yahya her trainer in the kitchen. Cooking is a science to Iman, and she credits her husband’s constructive feedback with making her a better cook. The two work well together — both collaborating and listening to each other’s ideas.
