Cobblers are a busy woman’s quick and hearty dessert standby. Take any fruit filling and top with soft biscuit dough, pour-on batter or pricked pastry cutouts. Bake the dessert while you get the remainder of the meal.
There’s one important rule—have the fruit filling hot when you add topping. Bake at once. Availability of fruits need be the only limit to the kinds of cobblers you make. Use ripe fruit in season, canned and frozen the rest of the time.
