Pie shells made with ground beef have an enthusiastic following in many farm homes. If you use fairly lean meat, you’ll reduce shrinkage during the baking. In Italian Hamburger Pie you have a blend of meat, tomatoes, cheese and seasonings that explains the name and wonderful taste of the pie. Use this main dish when you’re in a hurry. Oven time is only half an hour. You will want to double this recipe for some meals. Or use the larger recipe for Italian Beef Pie in this chapter.
