Today’s repertoire of sandwich types is much wider than in the past. This is due, in part, to the influence of international cuisines, and also to the creations of contemporary sandwich cooks and garde manger chefs. While the classic cold sandwiches remain as popular as ever, new forms are emerging every day.

- Double-decker and multi-decker sandwiches
- Open-face sandwiches
- Long roll sandwiches
- Pocket sandwiches
