Speaking generally, any sandwich served at a hot temperature can be called a hot sandwich. However, for the purposes of this text, it is necessary to distinguish between hot-temperature sandwiches that must be prepared by the hot line and those that can be prepared by the garde manger station.

In this text, we call sandwiches made from such ingredients hot sandwiches. However, another type of hot sandwich is made from pre-cooked or ready-to-eat ingredients. In this text, we call these heated sandwiches.
