Plated presentation can range from simple and rustic to elaborate and formal. In simple, traditional presentations, one or two slices of pâté are plated with a liner leaf or herb sprig garnish, a condiment, and perhaps a simple or composed salad accompaniment. For more formal plates, the slices may be coated with aspic, and the accompaniments may be more elaborate. Contemporary plate presentations may feature geometrically shaped individual pâtés, layered and molded salads, and décor items such as fancifully shaped savory tuiles and plate painting with herb oils and vinegar glazes.
