A good customer of mine The Mallyan Spout Hotel, in Goathland, in the depths of ‘Heartbeat’ country, was owned by the Heslop family. I used to organise gourmet dinners at the hotel, where I’d discuss wine, and Brian Turner (pre-TV fame) would do the food bit.
