By Jemma Pyne

“Farming to me is the most noble of jobs. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else and I’m eternally grateful that my children will grow up knowing this life.”

Growing up, the only experience I had of farms were childhood holidays to a working farm in Crediton which I loved, but I never really thought a farm might feature in my future. I suffer with allergies so a farm is kind of my nemesis! Then I met and married Nick and became a farmer’s wife. His family have been farming for many generations and Nick works with his uncle in Budleigh Salterton, a beautiful farm on the south west coast of Devon. They produce wheat, barley, maize, a variety of vegetables, keep a small flock of sheep for lamb, and 600 free-range chickens for eggs.
