We’d often eat in five different restaurants in one night, Fred and I, and sometimes Penny. We were all in our twenties, all studying at a small neighborhood yoga ashram in Thiruvananthapuram (formerly Trivandrum) in southern Kerala. All morning we’d do hatha yoga, five or six hours every day, so by late afternoon we’d feel really hungry, and that’s when we’d start eating. We’d stop only when it was time to go to bed.
