Bargaining is, of course, very standard practice in the Subcontinent, and it’s something that visitors sometimes have a hard time getting used to. If people aren’t accustomed to bargaining, or even if they are, it’s not always obvious how much bargaining is appropriate, and in what situations. The best thing to do is to ask around first, and then when you’re in a bargaining situation, try to have fun with it.
