  • About
The most distinctive feature of these fungi, known as the Toughshanks, is the tough, fibrous, flexible stem, which has no ring or volva. Some also have strong smells. The gills are often rather crowded, never decurrent. Many members of the traditional Collybia genus are being moved or have been moved to new genera, but there is disagreement amongst authors pending DNA confirmation. I have followed Henrici (2001).
