  • About
Place des Fêtes, 75019 M° Place des Fêtes (Line 7Bis and 11) Open: Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday, 7:00 A.M.–2:30 P.M.
Located in the culturally rich Belleville neighborhood of the 19th arron-dissement, Marché Place des Fêtes attracts a diverse crowd of shoppers. The charming place squeezes in as many stands as possible, with vendors selling everything from yarn to cooking supplies to organic produce.
Marché Place des Fêtes is home to two local farmers, Guy Barrais and Patrick Messant. Both from the Seine-et-Marne in Île-de-France, these farmers see crowds flock to their stands three times a week, as they arrange wooden crates of fresh, seasonal produce. On Sundays be ready to stand in line for quite some time before getting your chance to choose from the root vegetables, apples, and cabbage that abound during the winter months. While waiting in line, have no shame in eavesdropping in the hopes of recipe inspiration, as talk of a homemade pot-au-feu or winter stew keeps you warm while you wait to fill up your market basket. Both Guy Barrais and Patrick Messant can also be found at Marché Ordener (rue Ordener, 18th arrondissement).
