The Drawings

These come, necessarily, from a variety of sources; but the variety is partly intentional, since it seemed to me that to use the work of a number of different artists and draftsmen or draftswomen, presented in a harmonious fashion, would add to the interest of the book. The sources of the drawings reproduced in the catalogue are given in the Acknowledgements. Here I need only ask the reader to keep in mind that the drawings are not to a uniform scale; and that a fish out of water will not, of course, have its fins erect as shown in the drawings.
