A Passion for Potatoes

  • About

To my wife, Anita, and to my Late mothers, Lilian and Joyce

What other vegetable evokes such nostalgic feelings as the potato? It is part and parcel of my childhood memories - roast potatoes for Sunday lunch; baked potatoes thrown on the fire on Guy Fawkes Night; a midweek supper of sausage and mash; and, of course, fish and chips on a Friday. My particular passion was mashed potatoes with salad cream, which I have to admit I still enjoy but I like to feel that my tastes have widened a little since then!
