Cubebs, along with other exotics such as long pepper and grains of paradise, are becoming easier to get hold of as interest in pepper grows. Specialist spice shops and web mail order companies are the best hunting grounds. Buy a small amount at a time and grind the berries as needed.

Cubebs hold their flavour and aroma for a year or two as long as you store them away from light and in an airtight container.
