  • About
In its heyday, Granville Arcade was all about the fish. Fishmongers were scattered throughout the market, each specialising in different types of fish or seafood and each with their own loyal clientele. Only two fishmongers remain today and, until recently, one of them had been owned by the Hodges family since 1953.

Known as Dagon’s, it remained a big draw to the Village even when other shops lay empty. As Brixton Village became progressively busier, the queue at Dagon’s was still the longest in the building and they also began supplying the new restaurants in the Village. But 60 years is a long time to keep the early hours that Billingsgate demands and in May 2013 the Hodges family sold the business on to Mr Rusi, who owns Jeffries Fishmongers in neighbouring Market Row.
