Arrowhead, in China and Japan, was botanically classified as Sagittaria sinensis, and the North American species was known as S. latifolia. Now both are classified as a single species, S. sagittifolia. (Do not confuse arrowhead with arrowroot, which is a different root. See Other Roots for information on arrowroot.)
