  • About
Here are some tried-and-true ways to clean your cast iron. Sometimes we use a combination of methods with really hard stuck-on messes (hello, mac ‘n’ cheese). No matter how you decide to clean your skillet, we can all agree on a few things: if you don’t want it to rust, don’t leave it wet; season it well and oil it often; and you’ll never be forgiven for running it through the dishwasher. After any cleaning method, we recommend immediately oiling your cast iron (top to bottom, from handle to end) with a kitchen towel to keep it well seasoned. We prefer avocado oil, but any high-heat, neutral plant-based cooking oil will work.
