Libido is one of the things most likely to be affected when we are tired or run-down. If we feel good about ourselves, it is easier to fancy some quality ‘we’ time.
Before we get into the science, it is essential to recognise that in order to naturally increase libido using foods, making time for yourself and feeling comfortable and confident is just as important.
Recent studies have discovered that as we age, our natural libido decreases by around 1 per cent each year. It is logical to think that for people who live an unhealthy lifestyle of drinking, smoking, poor sleeping patterns and an unhealthy diet full of sugar and salt, this number will be much greater. For the rest of us the natural decrease in libido is an understandable decline – but it needn’t decline at all. Our libido is controlled by a combination of brain chemistry and bodily reactions. Oxygen and hormone transportation are essential for a healthy libido – the better our blood runs, the better we will feel in the moment, and the better we will perform.
