I am a nut fiend, and I think every sticky, chewy dessert becomes more flavorsome and luxuriously delicious with the judicious use of a few fat, sweet nuts. Almonds, hazelnuts, pecans, walnuts, cashews, macadamia nuts, and pistachios are among my favorites. Here are a few tips for handling and storing nuts to make your sweet treats even more delicious.
Buy shelled nuts in the largest pieces you can, and then chop and toast them as needed. Macadamia nuts, almonds, cashews, and pistachios are available as whole nuts, and walnuts and pecans are available in halves.
