Bake Shop This tiny hole-in-the-wall bakery has no official name that I could find, but it sells delicious filled breads made by the women inside. The breads – like pasties – include mushroom, potato with dill, cheese and mixed vegetables. It’s next door to the Badagi sweet shop in Miminoshvili Street, behind the Super shopping centre.

Chilikas Dukani This popular family restaurant is in eastern Tbilisi near Isani Metro. It was opened in 1961, in Soviet times, and offers Georgian-Armenian food: assorted barbecued meats cooked to order on an outdoor grill, varied steaming khinkali, meats stewed in clay pots, salads and khachapuri. It’s a mix of old Tbilisi style with some modern elements on the so-called Kakheti Highway. www.chilikasdukani.ge
