Kiketi village is in the Tbilisi district, but it’s so close to Kvemo Kartli, I’ve brought Mariam Iosebidze into it too. This lovely young woman – and good friend – has created only the second Georgian winery to be run by a woman (after ManDili). Her uncle, Emzar Vasadze, produces his wine here in the cellar he built beside his wooden house and he’s given Mariam two qvevri in it. He buys grapes from Kakheti for his wines, of Mtsvane, Rkatsiteli and Kartli Tavkveri, and has bought a vineyard there planted to Saperavi.
