When two sophisticated city types uproot to the country to start a farm it doesn’t always work. But Sophia Gorgadze and her husband, Levan Tsaguria, left Tbilisi a few years ago and never looked back. They built a house with a mountain view, milked a cow named Marleta (they named their café after her too) and fell in love with cheesemaking.
“I’ve lived in New York, painted sets and produced films, and love focusing on challenging projects,” the engaging Sopo, as she is known, says in fluent English. “We started with seven goats – seven of them – as there’s no real tradition of goat’s cheese in Georgia.”
