Kerovani comes from kera, the Georgian word for family hearth, the household’s focal point,” says Archil Natsvlishvili, who owns and runs Kerovani winery. “And keria is the big candle that was always kept burning in the house from which other things could be lit. So Kerovani suggests deep symbolic links to the family ties that are so important to Georgians.” Kerovani is located in a private house in the tiny streets above Sighnaghi’s central square. Archil’s aunt Tinatin Natsvlishvili, the director of the local music school, lives there.
