Assam lies beneath the foothills of the Himalayas. Assam tea is produced seasonally in first and second flushes. The second flush produces ‘tippy’ tea which means the black tea has plenty of young gold tips. Assam tea is known as ‘orange’ tea due to its brown and gold colour. Assam teas are full-bodied, with a strong, rich taste which tends to linger in the mouth.

The Nilgiris these hills form part of the Western Ghats in the south of India. Tea produced here has a bright colour and astringent quality and is picked at all times of the year.
