A kiwi looks like an oversize fuzzy brown egg. As curious as it is on the outside, it is gorgeous inside with bright green flesh studded with tiny edible black seeds. The taste is refreshing and plum-like. Since they don’t brown when cut and the color is unusual and dramatic, kiwis have come to garnish pastries, cakes, and tarts from coast to coast.
Kiwis are also delicious on their own. We like to cut them in half and eat them right out of the skin with a spoon. Kiwis are also delicious in chicken and seafood salads, in sorbets and ices, and combined with other fruits.
