  • Moisten and fluff a chocolate cake by adding 1 tablespoon vinegar to the baking soda.
  • If something is too sweet, add 1 tablespoon cider vinegar.
  • Marinate and tenderize meats in vinegar.
  • Add 1 tablespoon vinegar to poaching eggs to make the whites retain their shape.
  • Add vinegar to the cooking water of artichokes and red vegetables to keep them from discoloring.
  • A touch of vinegar will disguise the fact that you’ve reduced the salt in a recipe.
