  • About
Learning about sustainable fish and shellfish can be confusing, because there are so many different names, so many different waters from which they are sourced, and so many ways to catch them. To keep myself current, I rely on the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program (www.montereybayaquarium.org), which has up-to-date information on the frequently changing topic. From the site, you can print out a pocket guide to take with you to the store or order their mobile app.
Salmon and tuna are some of my all-time favorite types of fish, but they are also some of the most confusing fish available today. I always consult Seafood Watch before I shop and, if I’m at a seafood shop with which I am unfamiliar, I ask a lot of questions. Alaskan salmon and albacore tuna are usually sound choices. Other favorite fish in my house include mahi mahi, Alaskan halibut, black cod, Arctic char, shrimp, scallops, and clams.
