Preparing grains and legumes is really simple once you know the basics. All you have to do is follow some basic rules. I like to use vegetable stock as the liquid in place of water as it will give the dish more flavour. If you are just using water with the grain, then make sure you season it with a pinch of salt. If you allow the grains to steam for another 10 minutes with the lid on and off the heat after cooking, it makes them fluffy and allows them to expand a bit further.
