David Rockwell, FAIA, is the founder and President of Rockwell Group, an award-winning, cross-disciplinary architecture and design practice based in New York with satellite offices in Madrid and Shanghai. The firm crafts a unique narrative for each project through the intersection of theater and architecture. Projects include Nobu restaurants and hotels worldwide; The New York EDITION; NeueHouse (New York, Los Angeles and London); Chefs Club by Food & Wine (New York); W Hotels worldwide (New York, Paris, Singapore, Vieques); Newark Airport Terminal C dining venues; TED Theater (Vancouver, BC); Imagination Playground; 15 Hudson Yards and Culture Shed in collaboration with Diller Scofidio + Renfro; and set designs for She Loves Me, On The Twentieth Century, Kinky Bootsand Hairspray. Honors and recognition include the AIA New York Chapter President’s Award, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award, Presidential Design Award, Fast Company’s World’s Top 10 Most Innovative Companies (2015, 2014, 2009), James Beard Foundation Who’s Who of Food & Beverage in America and the Interior Design Hall of Fame. David serves as Chair Emeritus of the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) and as a board member of Citymeals-on-Wheels, Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum and New York Restoration Project.
