Method

Hush puppies are delicate, spicy fritters of onion and corn that originate from the Southern US states. The story goes that, to keep hungry dogs from begging for food while dinner was being prepared cooks used to toss scraps of fried batter to them with the admonition, ‘Hush, puppies!’

Place the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and cayenne in a bowl. Add the buttermilk or milk, egg
