In 2003, the small Western Australian town of Perenjori hit the headlines when it staged a record-breaking gathering of combine harvesters. Fifty-six machines came together in one paddock and harvested 200 hectares in just 24 minutes, reaping almost 21 tonnes of grain per minute. The effort not only won a place in the Guinness World Records, but it also gave the small rural community 350 kilometres north of Perth a much needed lift in confidence following some very tough years.
