Picking plums from the tree in our backyard is one of my fondest childhood memories. I knew that after she packed a few in my lunch box, my mother would turn the rest into a pie. Plums are the perfect balance of sweet and tart, making them an incredible filling for this free-form pie. There are many different varieties and colors of plum to choose from these days–mix them up and be creative.
