This pie crust can be made as a single crust or as a double crust. The high ratio of butter in the crust makes it taste amazing, while the small addition of shortening helps it hold its shape better. My recipe for pie crust is a bit larger than most because I find that this helps avoid any frustration in making the dough large enough to fit the pie plate, especially for beginners.
