A whole ham is perfect for feeding a large Christmas gathering. This version is served hot with a mustard cream sauce, hut any leftovers make a delicious Boxing Day lunch with a green salad and pickles.

Ingredients

  • 7 kg (14 lb) uncooked leg of ham, smoked or unsmoked
  • 2 onions

Method

  1. Soak the ham overnight in cold water, changing the water once or twice.
  2. Preheat the oven to warm 160°C (315°F/Gas 2-3). Tip off the soaking liquid from the ham and rinse it under cold water. Pat dry, place in a large roasting pan and distribute the veg
