This richest of fruit puddings needs no introduction. We have given two traditional methods—boiling and steaming—and both are easy to make in advance and can be reheated easily on Christmas day.

  1. To make the marinated fruits, place all the ingredients into a large bowl and mix together well. Cover with plastic wrap and leave overnight in a cool place.
