I know there are plenty of brownie recipes around, because in the search for the perfect example I think I’ve tried most of them. These meet the chewy criterion head on, and are dense with chocolate flavour, but the addition of the raisins, sultanas and candied peel makes these, for me, transcend the best. I’m not too keen on nuts in brownies, unless they are roasted, as in the next recipe. They would be OTT here. Another good thing about this recipe is the way the mix can go straight on to
