These are one of the few American cookies I remember my maternal grandmother, Clotilda Lo Conte, baking when I was a child. In fact, I still have the tattered 1930s molasses company recipe pamphlet from which she got the recipe.

These are a little less delicate than the Gingerbread People, but for all practical purposes the recipes may be used interchangeably.
