Although I have written this Mangalorean recipe using pomfret, don’t let that preclude you from making this curry if you cannot find it in your Indian or Pakistani grocer’s freezer. Any saltwater fish like yellowfin tuna, mackerel, bluefish, or striped bass will work just fine; adjust the poaching time according to their thickness. Serve it over a bed of boiled red or black rice for a simple dinner.
