As legend has it, this famous moulded dessert was named after the wife of George III, England’s famous ‘mad’ king. It is traditionally set in a tall, bucket-shaped mould.

Ingredients

  • 14 thin slices of white bread, trimmed of crusts
  • 175 g ( oz)

Method

  1. Brush a 1.25 litre charlotte mould with softened butter. Cut six slices of bread in half to form rectangles; cut five slices in half at a diagonal to form triangles. Reserve the remaining three slices of bread.
