Electric-Mixer Pastry

Blending is done with mixer—no cutting of shortening into flour and salt


  • 2-Crust 8" or 9" Pie
  • c. vegetable shortening
  • c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ¼ c. cold water

  • ¼ c. vegetable shortening
  • ¾ c. flour
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 2 tblsp. cold water


  • Place shortening, flour and salt in mixer bowl. Blend at low speed about ½ minute or until mixture is consistency of coarse cornmeal.
  • Add all water at one time and mix on low speed about 15 seconds, or until dough clings together. Shape dough in ball. It should feel moist. Follow directions for crusts mixed by traditional method.
