New, marvelous-tasting apple pie trim


  • c. sugar
  • c. water
  • 2 tblsp. butter
  • 1 tblsp. hot water


  • Combine sugar and ⅓ c. water in small heavy saucepan. Boil, without stirring, until golden color—10 to 12 minutes.
  • Remove from heat; stir in butter immediately. Then stir in 1 tblsp. hot water. Stir until smooth. Pour into bowl and cool until of spreading consistency.
  • Spread over crust of slightly warm apple pie when ready to serve.
