Chili con Carne Pie

Both corn bread and cornmeal mush make good toppings—take your pick

Ingredients

  • ½ c. chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • lbs. ground beef
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes (2 c.)
  • 1 (20 oz.) can kidney beans, drained (or Mexican-style chili beans)
  • 1 tblsp. chili powder (or less)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ¼ c. grated Parmesan cheese
  • Corn Bread Topping or Mush Topping

Method

  • Sauté onion, garlic and beef. Stir in remaining ingredients, except cheese and Topping; simmer 10 minutes.
  • Bake as directed with either Topping.
