Use Italian-style canned tomatoes instead of regular, if available

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 lbs.

Method

  • Put salt in mixing bowl; add cut cloves garlic and rub to crush. Remove garlic. Add beef, bread crumbs, pepper and onion.
  • Drain tomatoes. Measure ¾ c. tomato juice, adding water if necessary. Mix into meat mixture. Pat meat mixture into bottom and on sides of a 10" pie pan.
  • Bake in moderate oven
