Combine ¼ c. flour, 1 tsp. salt, pepper and paprika; mix well.
Use legs and thighs of chicken. Breasts also may be used, but cut them in half. Roll chicken in flour mixture and brown on all sides in shortening. Remove chicken from skillet and drain on paper towels.
To make batter, sift together remaining 1½ c. flour, baking powder and remaining 1 tsp. s
