The lobster should be baked with Snail Butter for best results, but often while camping or fishing we don’t have the resources of a civilised kitchen. This lack is compensated for by the pleasure of the surroundings, and simplicity is often more in tune with the experience.
Drown the lobster in a slurry of fresh water and ice (takes about 5 minutes). Cut a slit with a knife where the tail of the lobster meets the head, under the upper side of the carapace. Slice the cold butter and season with salt and pepper. Push the butter under the carapace into the head.
Wrap the lobster in the kelp and tie securely with the wire.
