Ingredients

  • 3 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1 Tbsp. oil
  • 26-oz. jar tomato sauce or spaghetti sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. dark brown sugar
  • 16-oz. can whole-kernel corn
  • 2 14½-oz. cans beef broth
  • 8-oz. pkg. dry elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheese

Ideal Slow Cooker Size: 6-Quart

Method

  1. Brown beef and onion in oil.
  2. Combine all ingredients except cheese. Pour into slow cooker.
  3. Cover. Cook on High 1 hour. Turn to Low and cook 4 more hours.
  4. Sprinkle with cheese and cook 10 minutes more.

Variation

You can change the balance of ingredients by using only 1–1½ lbs. ground beef and adding another ½–1 cup dry macaroni.
